MEWS has been founded in 1988 by former art students and entrepreneurs Peter Obroni and Dirk E. Schaetzler. They started to perform as street-troubadours in Vienna, faces painted black&white. After many more or less successful gigs and one EP, they decided to sign over MEWS to a young musician – who was kindly asked not to unveil his identity.
